Kara is an independent stylist located in Louisville, Kentucky with specializations in razor cutting, coloring, and blonding - in addition to a dedication towards promoting natural hair textures. Kara first discovered her passion for hair shortly after dying her hair blonde at the age of 11, influenced by the excitement of attending a Britney Spears concert. Years later, Kara would begin to develop a passion for fashion and self-expression. At age 16, Kara began hair modeling for various magazine and print outlets. It was during this time that Kara solidified her desire for a career in the industry. Following high school, Kara earned her license from the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology & Beauty School in Louisville. Kara would later land her first position at Joseph’s (Aveda) Salon, where she refined her skills as a color assistant and developed mastery with foiling, highlighting, and bob haircuts. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant energy and industrial benchmarks of New York City, Kara would then pursue an education at Bumble and bumble University while working at Twisted Salon in Louisville. Years later, while working as an independent stylist at Honeycomb Hair Salon, Kara would continue her pursuit of knowledge towards razor cutting, balayage, and blonding techniques. Today, Kara styles full time at Monstera Salon, located at 173 Sears Ave suite 168, Louisville, KY 40207 in Louisville, Kentucky. At Monstera, Kara shares a passion for high-quality brands such as R+Co, Bumble and bumble, and Reverie. In addition to nearly 20 years of experience, Kara continues her devotion to educational opportunities and the evolution of her craft. Her current focus remains dedicated to mastering straight razor cutting and staying up on the latest “Lived in Color” techniques. Along with her keen sense of fashion and personal style, Kara loves collaborating with clients to create their best looks. “I believe that hair, much like fashion, is always changing.” She says, “I never stop growing, traveling for inspiration, or educating myself. Hair is always changing, just like fashion - and that’s why I love it.”
